Ranking Pixar's films, from great to masterful

Pixar has been an inspiration for all fans of film. The studio has revolutionized film and changed animation from a thing for kids to a work of art. Today I will rank Pixar's films which range from good, to great, to a few true masterpieces. Lets get started.

12. Cars 2 - Pixar's latest film is not bad, but does not rank anywhere close to any of the other Pixar films. The film focuses more on spoofing the spy genre then ever trying to build up any emotion. The characters are nothing special or out or the ordinary but, the film still is fun. The film looks fantastic and there is a lot of fun to be had watching it just dont expect anything amazing.

11. A Bugs Life - A Bugs Life was also did not focus on emotion but was one of Pixar's funnier movies. The film creates a creative big world full of tons of funny stuff. The problem is that the movie Antz came out two weeks before the film and both focused on comedy so the film feels a bit stale. Overall A Bugs Life is a good Dreamworks film but a sub par Pixar film.

10. Cars - The first Cars film I think is a very enjoyable film and underrated. I loved the whole racing aspect was very cleverly done by Lasseter who knows and loved all things cars. The occurring problem with these lower films is it does not have heart but it makes an honest effort. The characters are much more likable then the sequel to Cars and had more fun. Just a solid film.

9. WALL-E - This is a surprising pick because alot of people have this as there favorite Pixar film. I loved the first half of the film because it showed the the love between WALL-E and EVE perfectly. The problem is the second half of the film just dose not really hit for me and the whole environmental message felt forced. Still it is  one of Pixar's most interesting films.

8. Up - Up is also considered one of Pixar's best films but I have the same problems I had with Wall-E. The difference is Up's first five minuets are truly lovely and one of the best montage I have seen ever. The second half gets a bit odd with talking dogs but the film raps up nicely. You may say since its at eight Its average but Up is still a remarkable film.

7. Toy Story - The first Toy Story filmed started it all for Pixar and is known as a game changer for animation.   It is truly a beautiful looking film being that it is the first film made with 3D animation. Watching the film today I still get the same awe and wonderment. It may take an ordinary story, but it becomes something completely extraordinary.

6. Finding Nemo - Finding Nemo is one of Pixar's more emotional films. The whole premise of how the Marlin character most protect his only son. I was in tears when the rest of his eggs and wife all died and is something that is really dark. Pixar still makes the film fun and for all audiences even with the subject matter which is a rare thing. Not even an annoying character can get in the way of the films greatness.

.

5. Monsters Inc - Monsters Inc has one of Pixar's more interesting concepts. It is about monsters scaring little children to produce energy for the town. This is easily one of the more underrated Pixar films in general. The whole story line with Sully and Boo made me cry my eyes out. Only if they had less of Mike it would be higher on my list but it still is a masterful film.

4. Toy Story 2 - Toy Story 2 did a rare thing, become better then the first film. It is just amazing to think on how there could be improvement on such a masterpiece. The film really portrayed life with a short montage about Jessie and her previous owner. That clip was revolutionary and so was the rest of the film.

3. The Incredibles - The Incredibles tackles one of my favorite genres, the super hero film. The result was masterful with such great action scenes. The whole family aspect of the film was great and made me wonder how my family would be like if they had super powers. Everything from the soundtrack, to the cast, to the animation is perfect. This is a true must see.

2. Toy Story 3 - Toy Story 3 is the perfect conclusion to the Toy Story trilogy. The ending will make any person tear up and made me feel like I was truly growing up with Andy. By the film I realized that all of these years of growing up with these films and then seeing this ending just made me fall to ground in tears. When a film just effects your life its just remarkable and shows the film is an art and Pixar has consistently shown.

1. Ratatouille - I cant get enough of this true work of art. Ratatouille is honestly the best looking film I ever seen and I just feel like eating the best food when I watch it. Every shot of Paris is just so beautiful and authentic. The film portrays food and all things food perfectly showing the hectic kitchen and the true perfection of the craft. The film just gets better and better and is topped of with one of the best monologues ever created. As an ameature critic myself I can not get enough of that. Ratatouille just shows what film was meant to be, art beautiful and meaningful at the same time.

In general Pixar has changed the way animation is looked at. Before that faithful year of 1995 animation was looked at as a thing just to entertain kids and families. Then Pixar came and changed everything around from how we look at there films today. I truly inspire to everyone at Pixar and to me personally, they are my heroes Thank you John Lasseter for changing my life forever.

Cars 2 is an ok ride.

Directed by John Lasseter
Written by  Brad Lewis, John Lasseter, and Dan Fogelman
Starring Owen Wilson, Larry "the cable guy", Michael Caine, and Jason Issac

Well its taken me awhile to finally get my review out because I have been mixed on the film. When I first walked out of the film I thought that it was fun but definitely Pixar's worst. The more I think about it the more I think about great films like Toy Story and Monsters Inc. I then realized that Pixar was not trying one bit to make a good movie, but more of a lazy effort.

No, Pixar can never make a bad movie? I am not saying that, they just made an average film which has to say something about Pixar how even there worst effort is worth watching. Perhaps not in a theater but still watchable. Now lets get into more detail about this.

The reason this film fails in a way is Larry the Cable Guy. He is just so annoying and seems like someone Lighting would have to babysit. The fact that we ever have do feel bad for Matter is ridiculous because all he does is ruin things. That is why the usual Pixar emotional moment does not work because I never believed there were friends at all.

That whole story arc reminds me of the raunchy Due Date in which there is the regular guy and the annoying guy The formula is used very often and usual ends with a bonding expedience but it never works except for Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Its just hard to every feel after all of the annoying stuff the character does.

Another thing is the film is a bit messy trying to have both the racing and all of the spy stuff. The film is only an hour and thirty-four minuets and it just feels very unorganized. I think if they wanted to make the film right they would just stick with the spy stuff and leave the racing alone because trying to have both does not work.

Now time to get to the good because there is good. The film is beautiful not Pixar's best looking film but certainly up there. The 3D adds a nice effect but I wish Pixar would use it to effect a bit more. The race sequences are the moment the 3D shines as it is very fast paced and gets you into the action.

Everybody in the cast does a good job except for the Cable Guy. The Toy Story short before the film was alot of fun and nice to see some of my favorite characters form the classic series.

So in total Cars 2 has some good and some bad. So for my rating I give Cars 2 a split rating of.

2 out 4 Stars

I like the poster and love the cast. It could become an early Oscar contender.

Transformers Dark of the Moon Review

Directed by Michael Bay
Written by Ehren Kruger
Starring Shia LaBoeuf, Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel, and John Malkovich

Transformers Dark of the Moon is the anticipated third film in the blockbuster franchise. The first two had mixed critical success but made tons of money all over the world. The second film may have made a lot of money but left a sour taste in critics and fans mouth, so does this new film do the same thing?

To answer the question, yes, yes it does. Transformers Dark of the Moon is such a dissapointment and makes me hate the first two films. The reason is the film had such potential to become something gritty yet action packed but it was way to silly to ever become close to this goal. Every time the movie made a stupid joke I felt like I was going to take the print out and burn it.

Bay does a good job with the visuals, but they did not impress me one bit. I think a audience member I am just getting sick and tired of straight foreword action films. I thought that the look of the film was the same as the previous three films. The 3D was a waste as it was not very effective or worth anybodies money. Just overall bland.

Then there is the running time. For heaven sake sitting in that theater for two hours and thirty-four minuets was like getting eating by a shark. The movie drags even worse then Pearl Harbor with so much unnecessary scenes. I dont think Bay even edits is films at all as they just drag so much. I actual think the final battle was an hour long!

This film also tries to build characters but heres the thing, they dont at all. Whenever they try to have an interesting moment it just gets completely ruined with just more action piled on. I mean really, take a breath and just develop. Optomous Prime and Sentinel Prime had the best scene in the movie when they just sat down and talked for a minuet. I am not saying make it a drama, but try to develop characters like in movies such as X-Men First Class.

The cast for the most part was wasted as talents like John Malkovich did absoulty nothing. Shia is just getting extremely annoying and turning out to be a one trick actor. All he does is yell stuff really loud during an action scene and its just laughable. Hopefully these films proved that Steven Spielberg is just wrong about him and how talented he is.

Overall Transformers Dark of the Moon is a mess. Bay tries to make it gritty and for kids at the same time and it just dose not work one bit. If there is a next film he needs to pick where to focus the film and go with it and not go half way. I am giving the film a low disappointing rating of.

1 out of 4 Stars

Green Lantern sequel?

Green Lantern has overall been a critical and financially failure but Warner Brothers is still going to make a sequel. Why are they doing this? Well Warner Brothers is saying they expected a second week drop off but they expect that in the films third week it will pick up more.

I think that this film is going to just keep dropping which is sad to see. It has to compete with Transformers and Cars and its going to get crushed. Whats even worse is that the film had a marketing budget of 200 million dollars as well so in total, the film costs 400 million and hasn't grossed 100 million yet.

War Games remake has director

More remake news there will be a new War Games film. Well unlike most sequels, there is a silver light for this film. It has been announced that Seth Gordon director of films such as King of Kong: a Fistful of Quarters and the new Horrible Bosses has been chosen to remake the film.

I am so happy to hear this news because I loved King of Kong and Horrible Bosses actual looks like it will be pretty funny. Hopefully he will do justice to the original.

Fear 3 Review

Developed by Day 1 Studios and Monolith Productions
Published by Warner Brothers and Interactive
Platforms: X-box 360, Playstation 3, and PC

Story

Nine months ago, the F.E.A.R. Point Man and his squad were tapped to stop an unknown man who had commandeered a battalion of Replica supersoliders at the Armacham research facility in the Northwestern US city of Fairport. During the mission, the Point Man learned that the man was not working alone - in fact, the very people the Point Man was ordered to subdue were his telepathic, cannibalistic brother, Paxton Fettel, and his tortured and psychically powerful mother, Alma Wade — products of Armacham Technology Corporation's perverse paranormal experiments. Despite this revelation, the Point Man moved forward with standing F.E.A.R. team orders to stop the targets at any cost. In a last-ditch attempt to end the pair’s homicidal rampage, the F.E.A.R. team set in motion an explosive series of events that seemingly accomplished their goal, but at the cost of ravaging the city, its inhabitants and almost all of the Point Man’s squad mates.

Four months following the blast, events in Fairport have made it clear that Alma’s psychic influence survived — and worse, her paranormal power is growing and spilling into reality. Now her supernatural agony repeatedly rocks the city as she attempts to secure the survival of her bloodline and reunite her family. Armacham’s security force remains violently focused on eliminating all evidence of the events in the city, and the remaining F.E.A.R squad carries on the mission to stop Alma.

Gameplay

Fear 3 has a campaign mode that is 8 chapters long which dose not seem much. The thing is the first time you   complete the campaign you control Point Man which is more like playing a shooter game because he has the firearms. Also when you control Point Man, you get the ability to slow down time which is valued in a situation when you are about to die.

Playing the game a second time through would be playing as Paxton Fettel who is telepathic. He has the abilities to stun opponents and also posses soldiers so you can use guns. Playing through both campaigns I noticed that being Point Man is much easier because the time freezing abiltly comes into play alot. Also it gets annoying over and over again possessing soldiers as Paxton.

Campaign

Like I said before the campaign is 8 chapters and is alot of fun, that's not to say there are flaws. I felt like the game really did not have alot of levels with scares. I thought chapter 3 was the only level to have alot of scares and I thought overall that was the best level in the game because of that. Most of the other levels are straight foreword shooting with some elements of horror that are not as good as chapter 3.

Playing through the game there are collectibles that are located in each level but they do very little to get you to put more hours into the game.

Multiplayer

The biggest improvement in the game is the multiplayer. This is where the game shines as it is much different then your regular first person shooter. Most of the levels require only 4 players which may seem like a fault to people but it is better that way. Each of the four modes have there own sets of maps which make each game mode a bit fresher. Honestly the multiplayer should keep you playing for a good month or two in anticipation for Dead Island.

Rating

Overall Fear 3 is a boat load of fun. I think it is one of the best games I have played all year. For X-box 360 I give it a solid 8.6.

Video Game Review Vault 1: Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Developed by Raven Studios
Published by Activision
Platforms: Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2, PSP, PlayStation 3, and Wii

A new blog I am starting is a video game vault reviews in which I review older games that vary in quality. The first game I wanted to review is Marvel Ultimate Alliance becuase it is fresh in my mind. I have just recently replayed the game on Xbox 360 but I have also beaten the game on Xbox.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a super hero beat em up team based RPG which lets you control and play through most of the Marvel Universe. The game is developed by Raven Studios who also did X-Men Legacy and X-Men Legacy: Rise of the Apocalypse which are two other games of this genre. Both of those X-Men games were fun games but were flawed and the graphics sucked.Well this game vastly improves on those games and becomes one of the funniest and best super hero games made.
The plot is that Doom and the Masters of Evil are planing on taking over the super hero world which includes Earth, Asgard, the Skrull planet, and many other famous locals. So Nick Furry assemblies a team which is the ultimate alliance which includes Captin America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Spider-Man, and more. So who will prevail, Dr Doom and the Masters of Evil or Nick Furry and his Ultimate Alliance.
The main thing that makes this game great is the variety of different characters. With 20 plus characters and also add on packs means that you can really mix or match your dream Marvel super hero team. This adds much more playthroughts especially becuase most of the characters are much different from each other. There are some characters that are much weaker than the other ones (Elektra Luke Cage) but there are only two or three.
On the Xbox 360, there are eight different downloadable characters including four villains. I think it is kind of lame that three of the four new characters are from the X-Men but everybody else are solid characters. Also on the 360 there are two system exclusive characters Moon Knight and Colossus who are solid and on the PSP, there are four, The Black Widow, Captin Marvel (aka marvels Superman), Hawkeye, and Ronin.
Another solid thing is the role playing element to the game that works surprisingly well. Each character has there own either physical or ranged attacks that are mostly different from the rest. Sometimes, some characters have almost the same attack but its only a different color which is annoying at time. Still there are tons of different classic attacks like using Thor's hammer and Captin America's Shield.
The final great thing I am going to talk about is the games cut scenes. Even if the game came out in 2006, the cut scenes in the game are absoulty amazing and some of the best I have seen. There is one cut scene in which Doom attacks the X Mansion and that scene looks fantastically great and action packed. The rest of the cut scenes are great but none ever re close to that cut scene.
Now time for my scores. Overall Marvel Ultimate Alliance is one of the most fun team based and super hero games I have played. Since I have played the game on two consels I have two scores. For the 360 I am giving it a 9.2 and a 8.9 becuase the 360 had the increase of characters and better graphics.

Cars 2 Preview

Rated G
Studio Pixar/Disney Studios
Directed by John Lasseter
Written by Brad Lewis ,John Lasseter, and Dan Fogelman
Starring Owen Wilson, Larry "the cable guy", Michael Caine, and Jason Issac

Welcome to my first preview and why not Cars 2. This will primarily be about my expectations for the film so, lets get rolling.

Cars 2 is only the second time the great Pixar has made a sequel. The first Cars was positively reviewed by for most critics and people, it is the worst film Pixar has made.  For the new one Pixar is going away from Route 66 and now taking the spy route. Compared to the first, this is a very odd jump as these race cars would become spies?

At first I was very scared for the film. I mean spy cars really? Then when Pixar released more trailers I got more and more excited and hopefully that it would be fun. You still got the races as Lighting goes for a world grand pix that he is competing in. The film takes place in three different environments which in the trailer there is some great visuals from places like Japan.

From the trailer one thing that I dont like is the film seems like they are giving us more of Matter. In the first film, I found him quite annoying after awhile. He is just there to please little kids making cringe inducing jokes that only a five year old would like. I did like that they put him a bit on a leash in the first, but this one sadly will use him much more.

As of now, Rotten Tomatoes is giving the film a mixed rating of 52%. Personally, I am hopeful walking into the film, I expect it to be alot of cool visuals and action but not the same heart that other Pixar films have that make them so great. I predict a rating of

2.5/4 Stars

Green Lantern is not bad, but only entertaining as a popcorn flick

Directed by Martin Cambell
Written by Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, Marc Guggenheim, and Michael Goldenberg
Starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, and Geoffry Rush

The Green Lantern is the third of four summer super heroes this year. The first two were Thor and X-Men First Class which were both fantastic films (Thor received a 3.5 while X-Men a 4). Both were loved by critics and made decent money. So does Green Lantern continue this great summer or does it crash the party like so many other reviews said. Lets talk about the story first.

The Green Lantern is about test pilot Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) who is extremely cocky and irresponsible. After a disastrous day in which he crashed a test plane, Hal sees a crash happen in which the object came from space. Hal checks out the crash site and sees a  Abin Sur (Temuera Morrison) who is part of the Green Lantern corps a group that keeps peace throughout the universe.

Abin Sur gives him the ring and Hal Jordan becomes  part of the Green Lantern corps. He immediately is transported to the planet Oa where there Green Lanterns inhabit. He meets some of the other Lanterns like  Tomar-Re (Geoffry Rush) Kilowog (Mark Clark Duncan) and Sinestro (Mark Strong). Hal is immediately needed to save his planet even thought his fear is shown. Can Hal defeat his enemy or will his fear be exposed.

Green Lantern has been getting tons of bad reviews recently but I am not one of them. I actual enjoyed this film but I do admit it is flawed. The biggest flaw is the story. I have not read the Green Lantern comics but I do know that they have a rich story full with a lot of characters and you could tell that the writers knew some of it. The problem is that they don't spend enought time developing the Green Lantern Corps instead showing more scenes on Earth.

Speaking of Earth, most of the scenes on Earth were pointless and just boring. Some times the scene transition between Earth and Oa was just unnatural and just felt messy. This goes back to the big problem that the film needed more time with the Lantern Corps instead of the silly stuff on Earth.

The cast of the film is pretty solid with Ryan Reynolds doing a pretty good job as the Green Lantern. He pulled of the Iron Man type role well being cocky yet like able at the same time. All of the Lanterns were great especially Mark Clark Duncan who is very funny in his small five minuet role. The villain Peter Sarsgaard also played a nice villain as well.

The problem in the cast was Blake Lively as the female love interest. Every line she said came off as fake and wooden. She does a little bit better by the end of the film but she still did a poor job. This may be the script, the director or her fault so the blame dose not just go to her.

The action in the film was fantastic and inventive. I honestly think the Green Lantern has had the best effects all summer with Hal creating all sorts of things with his ring. The CGI suits and mask look much better in the film then what they looked like in the trailers. The aliens in the film also looked good but the other villain  Parallax was just a cloud in looked off like Galactic in the Fantastic Four movie.

Overall the Green Lantern is a fun film with a lot of big action scenes and some strong performances but, the film is some what disappointing as it could have been much deeper or better. Overall I give the film a solid rating of.

3/4 Stars

Why Superhero films renaissance period may come to close?

The super hero film usual known as a summer time film that has a lot of effects and just there to entertain. This was before Christopher Nolan came along. In the year 2005 Nolan started his change of the genre with a real and dark Batman film not was successful with the critics and audiences alike. Directors were then needed to step up there films.

Then came the year 2008 in which a massive amount of four super hero films set to release. After each, people walked out liking each and every one (Iron Man Hulk Hellboy 2) , then Nolan's Dark Knight. The film became a classic as the film became known as a serous Oscar contender. What does this have to do with anything, well its just a brief history of the recent Super Hero flicks.

Well lets fast forward to about a month or two in advanced. The Summer of 2011 is about to begin with films such as Thor, X-Men First Class, Green Lantern, and Captin America. All of these films are slated to have huge box office runs with predicted grosses that are for the most part high. So far this summer thought, two of the four have been released and one other coming out today. So far, studios should be worried.

Thor started the summer and it kind of started a bit of a whimper only grossing 66 million dollars. It did tally 170 million dollars on a 150 million dollars but that total is much lower then other films such as Iron Man and some of the other more recent superhero films. Then X-Men First Class arrived and that is on pace to gross around 140 million on a 160 million dollar budget (also is the lowest grossing X-Men film).

This weekend we have The Green Lantern. Before the film was predicted to have a gross of 150 million but after the terrible reviews. It would be lucky to reach 120 million. Then later this summer Captain America a popular hero is only set to predict 140 million dollars.

Now its time to start to get to the point. As I showed earlier the Batman films and Iron Man films have made giant amounts of money and critical success. This may be all good but it may be contributing to the end of this superhero era. Why? Well it seems that there are many reasons for this I will go through a few.

1. People like there established superhero franchises. Look at Iron Man and The Dark Knight both got great reviews which lead to grosses past the 300 million dollar mark. So now audiences are knowing that they are going into films in which they know. This year everything is starting out fresh for the most part ( X-Men First Class is a prequel.)

2. Bad press surrounding the films. So far, each film this summer has had some bad press surrounding it. Critics and audiences were not fans of Thor's trailer in which it was alot of bad pop culture jokes. X-Men First Class was made in less then a year which is most likely a bad sign for a film. Green Lantern had a bad first trailer and bad reviews. Then last, Captin America had some problems with costume and CGI.

3. People and audiences seem to be getting sick of super hero films. Fast 5, Hangover 2, and Pirates of the Carribean 4 have all made more money then Thor and X-Men First Class. It seems that people would rather see a comedy or racing movie then a super hero film. Last year even the second Iron Man was out grossed by Alice and Wonderland and Toy Story 3.

4. The Batman and Iron Man films will never be replaced. No matter how much Marvel and DC try, once the Iron Man and Batman films series end (Batman next year Iron Man sooner then latter) both Marvel and DC will be stuck. After 2012 with the Avengers and The Dark Knight the two companies biggest films, they have to start from scratch. These film coming out this years failure slows down the development for there future.

Yes this may all be a theory but I think it will happen. After Batman and Robin bombed we did not see another superhero for four years and I think that the super hero genre is one flop away from a period of nothing. No, the genre will not die but it will not become as big as it is now. I hope I am wrong.

Expendables 2 Gets a director

Expendables was a huge success financially and for audiences but not so much for critics and myself (number seven on my worst of list). Well Sly himself as stepped down from the director chair for the new Expendables film and a new director has been announced. Its Simon West who directed film such as the Mechanic (2011) and Con Air.

I am happy about this news. The new Mechanic film was actual pretty good and I still have hopes for this new Expendables even if the last one was disappointing to me.

Percy Jackson 2 gets a director

The first Percy Jackson film was overall a box office success and made some money on DVD so obviously a sequel. For the sequel, the people at Fox got rid of Chris Columbus and today is successor is announced. Its THOR! Yes the infamous Thor Freudenthal who directed film like Hotel From Dogs and Diary of a Wimpy Kid is set to direct. Here is some more detail brought to you by movieweb.

"20th Century Fox has also exercised the option on star Logan Lerman, which means he will reprise his role as the title character. The story for this sequel revolves around the title character and his new friends, who journey under the sea to find the mythical Golden Fleece, and rescue their kidnapped friend.

It is believed that Fox wants to move quickly on this sequel, in hopes to release it in 2012. The first movie, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: Lightning Thief took in $87 million at the domestic box office, and an additional $137 million worldwide."

This might be a disaster. I actual somewhat enjoyed the first film because of a strong cast, some good effects and overall fun time. I do admit Columbus made a mess of a film but Thor is a terribly director. He is also rushed to make this film so I am not looking foreword to see this disaster.

Mangold chosen to direct Wolverine 2

Well the battle is over for rights to direct Wolverine. It seems we have a surprise winner here but James Mangold came up on top. Here is what was announced by Deadline.

James Mangold is 20th Century Fox’s and star Hugh Jackman’s choice to direct The Wolverine, ending one of the most competitive contests among directors for a major studio film. Negotiations are about to get underway, but I’m told that Mangold will take the helming job on the sequel to the X-Men spinoff film.

Well I am estatic about this news. I think James Mangold is a fantastic director that can handle any genre. He is on of my favorite directors working in Hollywood now and I am happy to see him land such a big job.

Dylan Dog: Dead of Night is a failed adaptation and a bad B film.

Directed by Kevin Munroe
Written by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer
Starring Brandon Routh, Anita Briem, Sam Huntington and Taye Diggs

Dylan Dog was gone from existence after its terrible box office run. I was sad to see that because the film interested me because I read a bit of the comic and really enjoyed it. So when my local small theater got there hands on a print of the film I was more then happy to attend even if it was going to suck. Before I get into the details heres a little summary of the film.

In New Orleans, Dylan Dog (Brandon Routh) is an ace detective whose specialty is paranormal cases. Now, he must deal with vampires, werewolves, zombies and a guardian of Hell, all due to a client's (Anita Briem) case. With the help of Marcus Adams (Sam Huntington), his undead assistant, he will have to persevere for the sake of the Earth.

Now time for the Review. As you can tell by the title I did not enjoy the film very much at all. The film is an absolute disgrace to the comics and a failed B film. I was not expecting it to be as good as the comic but it seems as the director Kevin Munroe, either did not understand the comics tones or just did not care.

Dylan Dog the comic was very smart commenting on issues with society but like I said the film is just dumb. I think a lot of the jokes in the film were failed because they did not have the same intelligence that they had in the comics. You can see while watching that the writers try to have the same edge in there writing but it overall does not work.

Overall I have really been going off on the film but there is some good things to be found in the film. I thought the look of the film was very good with some cool things like Dylan Dogs car and the city itself. I also really enjoyed Brandon Rouths performance and if someone wanted to remake this into a serous effort I think he could have the same intelligence as the comic.

The effects in the film were good with some good designs for some of the monsters, werewolves and vampires. Some of the CGI in battle sequences was off but for the most part it was overall solid. I also thought the film had some interesting smaller details like how the vampires sell drugs of there own blood to people.

Overall Dylan Dog failed at what it was doing but was an interesting failure certainty better then Battle L.A and The Roommate. I still have to give it a low rating of.

The Star Wars live action TV show put on hold, plot revealed

Star Wars Live-Action TV Series On Hold, Plot Details Revealed

Star Wars a classic franchise that can never be left alone. We had the prequels the cartoon and now a live action television show. Well news about this has came out and it has been delayed. Check out what producer Rick McCallum had to say.

The TV series is on hold. It has to do with [the episodes being] so ambitious," he said. "We have 50 hours of third-draft scripts, but the problem we have is there is a lot of digital animation; we don;t have thetechnologyyet to be able to do them at a price that is safe fortelevision. Since we would befinancingthem, it would be suicide for us to do this [now]. So we are going to wait three or four years.

Why make this another television show? The cartoon is just fine so just leave it alone.

Ben 10 Movie Coming Soon

Ben 10 has been a very successful show and also has made tons of money for Cartoon Network for toys and video games. So Cartoon Network instead of making another television film is doing a big screen live action adaptation. Here is what Variety said about this up incoming project.

"Joel Silver has signed on to develop a live-action feature film based on Cartoon Network’s “Ben 10″ sci-fi franchise, with an eye toward distribution through Warner Bros…Dark Castle’s Steve Richards (who has signed on to produce with fellow shingle co-prexy Andrew Rona and Silver) said that the bigscreen version of “Ben 10″ would be completely recast from the character’s previous live-action incarnations, and that the producers want to go as big as possible with the project."

I am now interested to see what they will do with this film. I have not watched the show but it could be a fun action film depending on the people making it, but Joel Silver is a good person to develop something like he did with Sherlock Holmes.

Avengers Promo Poster

Well the Avengers is now being filmed so to hold us fans over while the film is coming out. This is a nice little thing to tie me over check out the poster. I like this poster alot since we get to see Hawkeye's poster for the first time and it looks pretty cool. One thing is that the Hulk kind of looks weird to me.

Streaming Saturday: Episode 1 Football shows and Spoofs

Hey everybody I am here with a new thing I am going to do at least once, sometimes twice a week. It is where I watch some of the finest shows and movies on instant queue. I will mostly have a particular theme and today I was busy so I will have two different topics. Well lets get started
The League: Season 1
The League is a show about a group of friends Pete, Kevin, Ruxin ,Taco, and Andre who all have one thing in common. They all are in a fantasy football league together and all try to win the League title (except Taco) the Shiva. All throughout this six episode season the men go through tons of  hygienics such as buying three pennis wine, meeting the real Shiva, and how to secretly watch porn. By these statements you know if the show is for you.
The League is a comedy that most of the jokes center around football or raunchy humor. The group of friends tease each other all of the time. I love the show for that reason. This group of friends may tease each other, but they all know that they are best friends and that resembles real life. Also most of the jokes hit and when they do, get ready to laugh out loud. This is easily my favorite show on television right now and after catching up with the second season, I can not wait for the third. I give the show a 10/10.

Friday Night Lights: Season 1
Now instead of being a comedy, this show shows the dramatic light of football. The show is about the local High School football team the Panthers and all of the drama on and off the gridiron. The star quarterback Jason Streets is ready to lead his team to a title but after a major injury, will he be able to walk. Can the back up quarterback step up and lead the team to victory. If any of these questions interest you, check out this show.
Like a football team, the Panthers have there characters like the humble back up getting his chance, the ego maniac, the drunken guy who is really a good person, the perfect guy losing everything etc. To tell the truth, I did not mind any of these stereotypes becuase they are some what realistic. What isn't is every game going down to the last play. After the first time, it just gets annoying and predictable. The show does have a solid finally so I am going to give Friday Night Lights a 8/10.

Spoofs

The Other Guys
The Other Guys is a spoof of the cop genre and buddy cop films. The film is about these two terrible cops Will Ferrel and Mark Wahlberg, finally get there chance to prove they are good cops with a huge case. Yes generic story but who cares its a spoof film. Adam McKay directs and he and Ferrel mostly tag team for there movies and Mark Wahlberg would make an interesting side kick. So how was it do you ask?
The Other Guys is a funny silly action packed film that drags at points, but you will be happy with the result. Both Ferrel and Wahlberg do solid jobs and provide quite a number of laughs including a famous sports cameo with Wahlberg. Also in the film is Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Both are funny in there supporting roles. So why did I not love the film? Well the film is two hours long and it drags for about an hour two long. Despite my major complaint I will give the Other Guys a 7/10.

Evil Dead

This film is pure genus and by far one of the best horror films I have ever seen. I got my self laughing and disturbed at the same time and I have never seen that before. This is also the goriest film I have ever seen by that dose not mean the film is touter porn. There is a huge difference between those two genres. This film is a spoof of the genre while being a horror film at the same time.
This film as and will stand the test for one reason. The horror of the imagery.  Most horror films these days just want to use jump scares to give you a quick scare. The thing is jump scares are not effective becuase after awhile you can start to anticipated the jump scares. When the horror is in the imagery, a haunting feeling can be left in the scary imagery you see. Overall this is a horror classic that should be rememberer forever. I am going to give the film a perfect 10/10 and please check this film out.

Sacha Baron Cohen as The Dictator

Well after Borat and Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen has proved to be one of the most insane comedians of all times. Well for his new film he will be The Dictator! Check out the photo.

Sasha Baron Cohen as The Dictator

This looks pretty funny! I love most of his films so seeing this new one looks pretty promising. I surely want to see this film!

Roland Emmerich next project might be Asteroids

With all of these game adaptations why not Asteroids? Well there is some exciting news for the project, well some what. Universal is really wanting him but this is what Cinemabland reports.
"Universal has only offered the project to Emmerich, and who knows, maybe Will Smith will finally cooperate and agree to make that Independence Day sequel, meaning he’s no longer available. But having gotten a lot of guilty delight out of 2012, Emmerich seems about perfect to handle Asteroids, a giant space movie so unconcerned with taking itself seriously."
I actual want Emmerich to direct this. I mean it could be a really dumb fun film if he directs it. I am not really a huge fan of Emmerich thought hating both 2012 and 1000 B.C but I would want to see this happen.

Mr Poppers Penguins Early Review

Directed by Mark Waters
Written by Sean Andres, John Morris, and Jared Stern
Starring Jim Carey, Carla Gugino, Madeline Carroll, and Clark Gregg

Well lighting strikes twice this week as I got to attend another advanced screening, this time for Mr Poppers Penguins. The film may not be as huge as Super 8 but seeing a film for free in advance is always fun. This is clearly for kids, but is the film tolerable for adults and older audiences and is it entertaining for the younger audience.
Mr Poppers Penguin is about Mr Popper (Jim Carey) a workaholic who is one job away from being part of the big three business owner for the biggest business in New York. He is divorced and like his father, is rarely there for his wife or kids. One day his father dies and leaves him the biggest souvenir of all, six penguins that start to turn his life around.
He know is a little bit less tending to his job and starts to focus more on hanning out with his kids ( Madeline Carroll and Maxwell Perry Cotton) and the penguins ( all six are voiced by Frank Welker). Not everything is perfect as Zoo worker Nat Jones ( Clark Gregg) well do anything to capture the six penguins. Will Mr Popper live happily ever after or will everything crash down for him?
Mr Poppers Penguin is the definition for a Saturday Morning cartoon. The film is silly but I and the rest of the audience had a lot of fun with the film. I think the thing that makes the film better from mediocre kids films like Judy Moody is that Jim Carey is giving it is all and creates some really fun moments. I am a huge Carey fan and even through some of his bad stuff I thought he gave an honest effort in films like The Number 23 and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Carey for me is just so different and unique in any film it is really unpredictable what will he do next. The funniest moments of the film is when is Carey seems to be do his on stuff. Just every time he is on the screen he his a true joy to watch even if the joke falls flat on ground.
The Penguin characters in the film are funny for the kids and not too annoying for mature audiences. They look real but I have been wondering if they were CGI or real live penguins but judging in films technical advances, I put my money on the CGI. The penguins have some cool moments like when the are sliding down railings which looks really good.
This film does have many of the same flaws as any other family films I liked such as Night at the Museum and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The film is extremely genirc copying all other kids film note for note with the same plot lines. Also some of the poop jokes which may make kids laugh all just cringe inducing.
Still Mr Poppers Penguins breaks away from the Judy Moody mold and joins Night at the Museum and Diary of the Wimpy Kids as one of my favorite kid films of the decade. I am going to give the film the same rating that I gave the all of those other films. A nice and sweet.

3 out of 4 Stars
