Why I Matt really enjoy live action Disney films?

As people we all have our guilty pleasures but for me, Disney films aren't that. Why aren't they you ask? I mean alot of people hate them or just thing there are mediocre dumb films but I dont feel guilty one bit for liking them. So let me pull out my history book and monocle and talk about this renaissance of Disney films. Well it all started in 2004.
The film that started it all was another production by Jerry Bruckheimer called National Treasures. Like most of these films you got your major star, big effects, and overall adventures. National Treasures started the formula and pretty much showed what these films are. I mean there is no real history to be found in this two hour adventure film. You get all of the action adventure and even a few laughs.

Then we had maybe Disney's best live action film Sky High. Sky High kind of made its self different from the formula a bit. Unless you count Kurt Russel as a big star the film did not have anyone. Instead the film found some younger stars. It still has the same story formula with the cheesy romance, the "so called twist", and your sappy but sweet ending. The film had fun action and overall likable characters that I did not want to punch in the face. So again when you walk into Sky High, do you expect anything else.

Now it seems we are back to National Treasure with its sequel Book of Secrets. Just like the first its Disney's version of Indiana Jones except not a serous. When I first saw the film with some friends they dismiss   the film becuase it dose not make any historical sense. Well I doubt that is what the film was trying to do. It was trying to do the same thing as the first, entertain.

Now we fast forward to this past year with Prince of Persia. Like last National Treasure the film takes a big name in this case Jake Gyllenhaal. The film has great acrobatic action scene and in my opinion is a fun video game movie. Just like a video game you have crazy action, a likable lead and tons of silly things about. So you ask, why I am I just going over these films, well it will make sense in the end.

Now to our final film Soccers Apprentice. Like the other Soccers Apprentice takes pride in being generic but that dose not mean it does not try to be good. This film as a alot of good performances and some of the best action there is to offer. You have the nerd getting the girl and the sappy ending just like all of the other films. So how are these good?

People come into everything expecting a master piece but not everything is. People should not walk into a family kids film looking to point out flaws of the plot. Like everyone else going it is just to see likable characters good action and a happily ever after ending. Then I walk out of the theater not regarding the story but thinking how these films point out the real great thing about life, happiness.
I mean it can get pretty tiring after a while walking out of constant dark and depressing, constantly feeling sad about a film. Truth is we need these films just to give us a fairy tale where everything turns out fantastic to even out the darkest films. So next time you call these films dumb, stupid, and pointless, think again becuase they aren't.
