Since the fourth Pirates film has already made 700 million dollars word wide we are getting a sequel. The thing is that Rob Marshall might not return becuase he wants to leave or maybe since the film was the lowest reviewed pirates film out of the four films.
So just in case he leaves, Disney has put out a short wish list directors. This list includes Tim Burton, Sam Raimi, Shawn Levy, Chris Weitz, and Alfonso Cuaron. This is a good list with a few outliers in Raimi and Weitz. I honestly think those two will be very busy and would not fit the pirate scheme very well. The most logical and easiest choice for Disney will be Burton since he is a marketable name as a director unlike the rest and has already worked with Disney alot.
